About Google

Google’s story began in 1996 as a university research project and officially became a company in 1998. Since then, it’s grown to offer everything from search engines to mobile phones.

Whether you're looking for a contract, PAYG, or sim-only deal, you can find a Google mobile phone plan that works for you. Compare tariffs across different providers and pick the deal that suits your needs and budget.

In 2010, Google launched its first Android mobile, the Nexus One. After a series of successful Nexus models, Google pivoted in 2016 to the Pixel brand, which continues to impress with slick designs and innovative tech.

Google mobile phone deals

Google phones, like the Pixel, are great. When it comes to choosing the right mobile phone deal, you’ve got a few options. Whether you’re after a pay-as-you-go plan, a contract, or a sim-only deal, we’re here to help you understand the mobile phone jargon and find the perfect plan for you.

Contract

A contract is a set monthly payment over a fixed period (typically 12 or 24 months). This package covers both the cost of your Google phone and your allowance for texts, calls, and mobile data. Be aware, you might need to make an upfront payment to help cover the cost of your phone. You’ll also need to pass a credit check to be eligible for a contract.

Sim-only

With a sim-only deal, you get a monthly allocation of calls, texts, and data, but without a handset. If you already have a Google phone or just want to keep costs low, this could be a great option for you.

Pay as you go

Withpay as you go (PAYG), you’ll need to top up your phone with credit before you can use it. This credit covers your calls, texts, and data usage. When your credit runs out, you’ll need to top up again to keep using your phone. While we don’t offer PAYG deals on Go.Compare, it’s a great option if you don’t use your phone that often.

Get a good deal on your Google mobile phone plan

It’s always a good idea to compare mobile tariffs to find the deal that works best for you and your budget. Remember, understanding the details of the plan is key. If you need more info, your provider should be happy to break it down for you.

And, a word of advice - don’t get swept away by upselling tactics. You don’t need a more expensive phone or plan if you don’t actually need the features. The only person who knows what’s right for you is… well, you!
