After months of anticipation, Apple has unveiled its shiny new iPhone 17 range. And while it could seem like the least thrilling of Apple’s 2025 offering, the standard iPhone 17 has plenty to get excited about, especially if it’s been a while since you upgraded your handset.

But does it have enough to make it worth the price tag? Keep reading and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the iPhone 17.

How can I find the best iPhone 17 deals?

If you’re looking for the best iPhone 17 deals around, use a price comparison website to compare prices from a huge range of networks and resellers to find a deal that’s right for you.

Scroll to the top of this page and you’ll be able to see all our best deals for the iPhone 17 as soon as they land. You can filter to find contracts that come with your chosen amount of data, select the network you want and set an amount you’re happy to pay upfront. And you’ll also be able to choose between different storage options and colourways, as well as contract length and any cashback offers and deals that come with free gifts.

Buying the latest iPhone as soon as it’s announced is usually the most expensive time to get one. Having said that, you might be able to find some decent offers that come with extra data, upgraded storage or freebies, like a subscription to a streaming service. So it’s worth keeping your eye out for any enticing offers.

Once the iPhone 17 has been out for a while, you might also be able to find refurbished options popping up, which are usually a lot cheaper than getting a brand new handset.

Refurbished phones from a reputable reseller are graded so you know what condition it will be in, and the phone should be thoroughly tested to ensure it’s working properly before you receive it. There’s also a 14-day cooling off period, so you can always return it if you’re not happy.

Alternatively, if you’re happy to wait a couple of months, Black Friday isn’t that far away. And while it’s not all that likely the iPhone 17 will be heavily discounted on Black Friday this year, you might be able to get a bit of money off or find a deal that comes with extra data or a free subscription to make it more tempting. Or if you’re not convinced you need the latest iPhone, you might be able to find deals on older iPhones, like the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 15.

How much is the new iPhone 17 in the UK?

At the time of launch, the price for the iPhone 17 starts at £799 SIM-free for the 256GB variant and rises to £999 for the 512GB version. This is £100 more expensive than last year’s iPhone 16, which has come down in price, making last year’s model a more attractive alternative to customers who don’t need to have the latest iPhone.

Having said this, a huge number of customers will be looking to get the iPhone 17 on a pay monthly contract instead of parting with the £799 in one go. Use our comparison tool at the top of this page to compare deals from a huge range of the UK’s biggest networks and resellers to get a contract that’s right for you.

Can I get an iPhone 17 with no upfront cost?

Yes, you can. There will be a range of deals from some of the UK’s best networks that will get you a brand new iPhone 17 with nothing to pay upfront. Having said this, if you can pay an upfront fee, it will likely bring down your monthly repayments and could even mean you pay less overall.

Which networks have the iPhone 17?

The new iPhone 17 is now available to buy from all the major UK networks, including:

Can I get the iPhone 17 with unlimited data?

Yes, there will be plenty of iPhone 17 deals available that come with unlimited data on several of the UK’s best networks. You might be able to get a cheaper deal if you opt for a contract that comes with a set amount of data each month instead. There are lots of plans around that come with 50GB, 100GB or even 500GB a month, which should give you more than enough data and could save you some money.

How do I compare iPhone 17 deals?

The best way to compare phone deals is to use a price comparison service, like the one at the top of this page. You can filter deals by data, contract length and upfront cost, as well as the network you want and by colour and storage option. You will be able to sort by monthly cost, amount of data or total cost of the plan. Total cost is the best way to see if you’re getting good value for money overall.

How to find the cheapest iPhone 17 deal

If you’re looking for the cheapest way to get the iPhone 17 on contract, use a price comparison website to compare plans. You can search through iPhone 17 deals at the top of this page as soon as deals are live. We’d recommend sorting the deals by total cost from low to high, so you can find the deal that will work out the cheapest over the length of your contract.

When comparing deals, it’s worth remembering that the iPhone 17 costs £799, so if you subtract that amount from the total cost of the handset, you’ll be able to see how much you’re being charged for the data, calls and texts.

Historically, it has been cheaper to buy the phone SIM-free and then get a SIM only deal to go with it. But pay monthly phone deals are becoming more competitive, so you should be able to get decent deals without having to stump up loads of cash in one go. Although if you can afford to pay something upfront for the phone, this should bring down the monthly cost and will usually mean you end up paying less overall.

Of course, getting the iPhone 17 as soon as it comes out is the most expensive time to buy it. But you might be able to find some deals that come with sweeteners, like free streaming subscriptions, extra data or increased storage that could help you justify the cost.

As the iPhone 17 has only just been announced, you won’t be able to find any refurbished phones straight away. But in a few months’ time, there should be a few refurb options to help you get your hands on Apple’s latest iPhone without breaking the bank.

And if you’re happy to wait a few months, you might be able to find a better deal around Black Friday. Although there aren’t likely to be any huge discounts on the iPhone 17, you might be able to find some cut-price offers.

What are the main differences between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17?

One of the biggest upgrades on the iPhone 17 vs the iPhone 16 is the addition of the ProMotion display. Unlike the 60Hz display on the 16, the iPhone 17’s ProMotion makes for a much smoother and more responsive experience, which makes a big difference, particularly if you like to use your handset for online gaming. It has also reduced the refresh rate when you’re viewing static content to help your battery last longer.

And speaking of battery life, the new iPhone 17 has a slightly bigger battery, in addition to its power-saving tweaks that helps the iPhone last longer between charges than the 16.

Elsewhere, the selfie camera has seen a significant improvement from last year’s iPhone 16. It has an 18MP front-facing snapper, a huge upgrade on the 16’s 12MP selfie cam.

There’s also a difference in price. At the time of writing, the iPhone 17 costs £799, while the iPhone 16 has dropped to £699.

What other iPhone 17 phones are available?

In addition to the standard iPhone 17, Apple has also released the iPhone 17 Pro, which has a much better camera, brighter display and longer battery life. And there’s the iPhone 17 Pro Max, a larger version of the Pro, with a bigger screen and a battery to match. In a first for Apple, there’s also the iPhone Air, which is the slimmest iPhone ever created, making it the perfectpocket-sized handset.

FAQs

Which iPhone 17 is best value for money?

The standard iPhone 17 is the cheapest version available, costing £799 SIM-free. The iPhone Air costs £999 and is a lot slimmer than any other iPhone, which might make it better value for money if that matters to you. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro has a significantly better camera than the iPhone 17 and, at £1,099, is £300 more. If you want the best camera any iPhone has to offer, it might be worth the extra cost.

When is the next iPhone coming out?

The iPhone 17 was announced on 9 September 2025 and will be available to buy on Friday 19 September. The next iPhone, which will presumably be called the iPhone 18, is likely to be unveiled sometime in early September 2026.
