Apple has just announced its iPhone 17 range and the Pro Max is the biggest and best of the bunch. But is it worth the premium price tag? We’ll walk you through all you need to know about Apple’s biggest and best phone and provide you with plenty of helpful hints to help you find the right iPhone 17 Pro Max deal for you.
If you’re looking for the best iPhone 17 Pro Max deals, use a price comparison, like the one at the top of this page. You’ll be able to compare deals from many of the best UK networks and resellers, with plenty of different data options to suit your needs as soon as they go live.
You can use filters to select your preferred network, data limit and amount of upfront cost. And you’ll be able to choose the colour and storage option you want. If you sort the deals by lowest total cost, you can see the plans that work out cheapest over the course of your contract.
It’ll come as no surprise that Apple’s priciest iPhone won’t be cheap when it first comes out. So you might need to wait a little while for some competitive deals to come through. Having said that, you might be able to find some offers that come with some extra sweeteners, like double data, increased storage or a free trial for a subscription service.
Generally speaking, though, you’ll be better off waiting until the hype dies down. This also means you could get a refurbished version of the 17 Pro Max or you could take advantage of any Black Friday iPhone offers.
At its launch, the iPhone 17 Pro Max costs £1,199 SIM-free for the 256GB version, increasing to £1,399 for the 512GB model. The 1TB version costs £1,599, while the 2TB model comes in at an eye-watering £1,999. This has gone up since last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, which cost £INSERT and has now been reduced to £1,099. We’ll explain the difference between this year's Pro Max and last year’s option further down the page.
A huge number of iPhone customers will choose to sign up for a pay monthly contract so they can spread the cost of the handset over one, two or even three years. These deals also come with a bundle of minutes, texts and data.
Yes, there will be lots of iPhone 17 Pro Max deals that don’t have any upfront costs. You can find a huge range of them by scrolling to the top of the page and using the filters to see contracts that don’t require you to pay anything upfront. It’s worth noting that if you pay a small upfront fee, it could end up saving you money over the course of your contract.
The new iPhone 17 Pro Max is now available to buy from all the biggest UK networks, including:
Yes, the UK’s best networks will have a range of iPhone 17 Pro Max deals that will give you unlimited data every month. Given that this is Apple’s most expensive iPhone, adding in unlimited data won’t make for a cheap contract.
If you want to save money on your new iPhone deal, you might want to consider opting for a generous monthly data limit, like 20GB, 50GB, 100GB or even 500GB a month. This should still give you plenty of data at a lower monthly cost.
If you’re looking for the cheapest way to get Apple’s most expensive phone, the best thing to do is use a price comparison tool, like the one you’ll find at the top of this page. We’ll have a huge selection of deals from many of the UK’s most popular networks that you can compare by price, data amount, colour and internal storage as soon as they go live.
If you want to identify the deals that are the best value overall, sort the deals by lowest total cost. This means you can see which plans will cost you the least amount of money over the length of your contract.
It can often work out cheaper overall if you pay something upfront. And if you opt for a modest amount of monthly data and the smallest storage option, that will also bring the cost down, making it more affordable.
As you’d expect, the most expensive time to get the new iPhone is when it has just come out. If you can wait a few months, you might be able to find more competitive deals or get a refurbished model.
Here’s a list of the specs for Apple’s brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max:
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a worthy upgrade on last year’s 16 Pro Max. As you’d expect, one of the biggest improvements is the camera. The latest Pro Max has some seriously impressive photography smarts that put it way ahead of its predecessor, boasting a triple-lens 48MP rear camera that promises to make this the best iPhone camera so far.
The 16 Pro Max, meanwhile, has a much more modest 48MP lens and a 12MP periscope lens. So Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone will definitely make it a lot easier for users to take stunning, sharp, professional photos.
The 17 Pro Max also boasts a much more impressive 24MP selfie camera, compared to last year’s 12MP front-facer.
The new phone has a bigger battery and a faster chipset, which combined with a more modern design and a brighter display on the 17 Pro Max, makes it much nicer to use than the 16 Pro Max.
Of course, all of this is reflected in the price. At the time of writing, the iPhone 17 Pro Max costs £1,199, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has dropped to £1,099.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the biggest and best iPhone Apple has to offer. But it’s also the most expensive. There are actually three other handsets in the lineup, all of which are cheaper than the Pro Max.
First off, we’ve got the standard iPhone 17, which is the least expensive iteration. Although with good camera specs, decent battery life and a fast chipset, it’s definitely a good alternative if you’re looking to save money.
There’s also the iPhone 17 Pro, which has the same specs as the Pro Max, except it’s a bit smaller.
And there’s the iPhone Air, which is the slimmest iPhone ever but has slightly less impressive specs to accommodate the smaller size.
The standard iPhone 17 costs less than any other handset in the range, coming in at £799 SIM-free. If value for money is your main consideration, you might decide that the Pro or the Pro Max are worth the extra cost, as they feature a much better camera, a faster chipset and a bigger battery. They cost £1,099 and £1,199 respectively, so it depends if the superior specs are worth the extra to you.
Alternatively, there’s the iPhone Air, which is more expensive than the standard 17 but cheaper than the Pro and Pro Max. And it’s the thinnest iPhone ever, so it might be the one for you if you want a phone that can actually fit in your pocket and be used one-handed.
Apple launched the iPhone 17, Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max on 9 September 2025 and will be available to buy on 19 September. They are due to be on shop shelves from 19 September. We’d expect the next iPhone launch, where we will presumably be introduced to the iPhone 18 range, to take place in September 2026.
